Tips to Promote Events Digitally

Whether you’re planning a workshop, webinar or organizing a launch party or a bigger conference, using the web to promote your business event is one of the most important steps along the way. Hosting an online event is an excellent way to call attention to your brand or company.

Today, I shall sum up a few points on how to effectively promote your event digitally:

1. PLAN

Its mandatory to have a plan for the promotion as well. Prepare all social texts and images beforehand. Choose the right platforms for your promotion for ensuring better results.

2. BE SPECIFIC

Spend the most time finding the right audience(s) and catering the message for them. Find groups that would be most excited about the event and get them talking about it; they’ll invite their friends.”

Don’t just announce an event, find clever ways of getting people to talk about the event,” “For example, asking questions, getting people to like/retweet/share, having provocative/interesting/humorous information, etc. The more people interact, the more your message will be shared.”

3. HOST A EVENT WEBSITE

If your business or service doesn’t currently have a website – well, what are you waiting for? If you do already have one, it’s a good idea to add information about the event on your existing site, but you can also create a landing page that focuses  solely on the event you wish to promote.

4. CREATE AN EVENT HASHTAG

And use it wisely on all social mediums often.“Social media is also a great way to spread the word ahead of time. This would help you to drive the attention of your targeted audiences.

Naturally you must take advantage of the other major social networks and invite your friends and followers on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google + and yes, even via blogs too.

5. E-MAIL MARKETING

Plan and create a promotion schedule to send out emails, announcements and reminders. Announce your event to both your mailing lists and partner’s lists, and any

possible sponsor’s lists as well, but make sure you’re not double-sending emails – unless you want to go directly to spam.

6. WORD OF MOUTH PUBLICITY

Don’t be embarrassed to talk about your event on blogs and forums where you hang out, as long as the event is relevant to the other users. Your friends and coworkers should do the same. It’s important not to cross the line and become a spammer. You won’t get any good results by posting on forums you never visited before. An invitation from a “friendly face” is worth a lot more than from an unknown promoter.
